I liked painting this so much the first time, I decided I’d do it again. Unfortunately, this was a model from W magazine, so, like yesterday’s painting, I don’t know who it is, and thus can’t tell him he now has two portraits painted of him in addition to being on my business card and the header for this blog! Miraculously, I found a way to photograph it without too much glare:
Tonight I wanted to explore the many colors that comprise black. I had “Woman With a Fan” by Veláquez in mind. It’s beautiful, with creamy gradations of black clothing.
New Photo 4-9-08 This piece left me nostalgic and melancholy, because I meant to complete this painting while my dear friend Susan was alive and regret that she passed away without seeing it. I hope that wherever she is now, that she’s pleased.
