I’ve fallen behind on blogging, and wanted to catch everyone up on this past season:
Quick Draw Arts Festival at Flag is Up Farm 10 am until 3:30 pm on Saturday, November 5th, with an opening reception at the Elverhøj Museum on Friday, November 4th from 4-6 pm.
I agreed at the eleventh hour to participate in the Quick Draw auction. For those interested in observing the art being made, the artists were introduced at 10:30 am, began making art at 11 am, and hand their work in at 12 pm. This was my first year painting in this event, and I was excited to see how I’d do alongside all the seasoned Quick Draw artists and friends!
This is a photo from the Quick Draw event, where I’d put in most of the underpainting, (a challenging task for such a well attended chaotic event!) Kudos to all the seasoned artists in this event, who finish a piece in an hour! Having agreed to do it after hearing that a friend couldn’t participate at the reception the night before, I really wasn’t prepared to work as quickly as the others. Nevertheless, I was very happy when my piece was bid up with the promise that I would finish it soon after. Here is a studio shot of the finished product:
“Harlequin muse” Oil on canvas. 16×12″
I had a print on canvas of “Harlequins in Repose” (18×18″ framed) and one of “Baile” (18×22″ framed- see bottom of post for image), as well as “Ivy,” an original painting (20×26″ framed) in the silent auction.
